Access To Work - Support Workers

When requested by the Department for Work and Pensions, Momentum Skills is able to arrange for a specialist support worker to assist someone with a disability in their employment.

Some examples of the support provided are driving, sign language, note-taking and/or reading.

The need for a support worker would be assessed on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions as part of an Access to Work workplace assessment.

The Access to Work programme is a JobCentre Plus grant scheme, which assists disabled people who are in paid employment or self-employed , by providing practical support in overcoming work-related obstacles resulting from their disability.

Access to Work grants will contribute to the additional employment costs resulting from disability that an employer would not normally be expected to fund.

In some cases, this may involve an arrangement where the Department for Work and Pensions and the employer share costs.
