Momentum’s Employability Fund

Momentum’s Employability Fund service supports young people aged 16-24 and also those unemployed people who are over 25 who wish to gain full time employment, progress to a modern apprenticeship or to move into further education.

Momentum’s Employability Fund is funded by Skills Development Scotland and delivered in the following locations in Scotland:

• Glasgow
• Renfrewshire
• South Lanarkshire
• Aberdeen
• Scottish Borders
• North Ayrshire

Momentum’s Employability Fund services focus on supporting people to identify and remove any barriers to work and prepare for employment. 

There are five stages to the Employability Fund’s services, this programme is a stage two and three programme.

Stage 2 of Momentum’s Employability Fund supports you to build the foundation of your employability skills through personal development and an element of work experience. You will work towards Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) Personal Development Award (SCQF Level 3).

The programme runs three days a week for 13 weeks in each of the centres. There is an opportunity to take part in a work placement. On completion of the course you can progress to our Stage 3 or any other employability or vocational programme.

Stage 3 of the programme will support you in preparing for and sustaining your employment. You will develop your practical work skills through chosen work placements and will work towards SQA personal Development (SCQF Level 4).

You will spend time in the centre preparing and sourcing work placements, and working with staff and other participants in our Job Club. On completion of the course, you will be able to move towards or a job, modern apprenticeship, further education or Stage 4 courses.

All training programmes will support you to understand what different types of employer are looking for. This will give you knowledge, understanding, employability and core skills to help you progress towards a job. Every person will have the opportunity to develop their own Individual Training Plan which will be agreed and reviewed on a regular basis with your key staff member.

Most young people (16-17 years old) should qualify for a training allowance of £55 per week following a check for eligibility. Travel expenses are available for eligible participants.
