Strathclyde Momentum Programme

The Strathclyde Momentum Programme benefits people who may have a range of disabilities or long term health conditions from Ayrshire,  South Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire. The programme is funded by the Big Lottery’s Life Transition Programme and consists of five stages:

Stage 1 is an initial Assessment
Stage 2 is creating a personal development plan
Stage 3 is about career development
Stage 4 is developing essential employment skills
Stage 5 is aftercare available for up to six months after the first day of employment.

Momentum’s staff members will assist people to develop individualised plans to meet their unique needs.

The Strathclyde Momentum Programme provides vocational evaluations, job training, guidance and support. We aim to help people to make the transition from rehabilitation to employment, and inform them about the kinds of technology available that could increase independence.

As part of the Strathclyde Momentum Programme each person will have a detailed assessment of their health needs and vocational aspirations that will form the basis of an agreed action plan. This will identify the level of support and guidance the service will provide to each person to enhance their self-confidence and esteem and build on their abilities.

This action plan will also assist in the development of personal social skills and other interests in order to pursue their goals. Finally, the action plan will identify various options to enhance employment skill levels and provide ongoing support and guidance until the person is settled in employment.

The Strathclyde Momentum Programme promotes and utilises effective partnerships with external organisations that provide vocational certified programmes in the local community. The Strathclyde Momentum Programme will develop people's knowledge of the local labour market and job search requirements and enable them to gain a more realistic approach to employment.

Those accessing this service will also receive support from qualified Momentum therapeutic and employability staff throughout their programme. The range of skills includes occupational psychologist, occupational therapist and assistive technology adviser as well as dedicated employment development workers.
